Feeder-Watch Friends - 3rd Grade
Are you interested in learning about the birds that can be found at Atholton? Do you enjoy watching birds in action as they work to get food and interact with other birds? In this group, students observed birds in nature and on the internet. They also researched to learn more about the birds of Atholton.
Bird-Watching:
What better way to watch birds than from a bird blind, where the birds don't notice us observing them at the feeders? Or from out in the Outdoor Classroom. Using binoculars and bird guides, we get a better look and record what we see.
LIVE! From NEW YORK!
Here we are observing science in real time through a live web cam mounted upon the Great Blue Heron nest at Cornell Lab of Ornithology in Ithaca, New York. It is amazing to watch this miracle from so close up, yet so far away!
Time to Do Some Research:
The Birds of Atholton Book:
Research is powerful! Our students used both books an the internet to research a chosen bird in order to create a page for Atholton's book of birds. The book pages are as beautiful as the birds!
