Good Earth-Tellers - 3rd Grade
This third grade instructional seminar was offered for those who like the challenge of performing in front of others! Six third grade students came during their recess for one third of the school year to practice the art of story-telling. They did a wonderful job!
Finding A Story to Tell
We used stories from Keepers of the Animals by Michael J. Caduto and Joseph Bruchac to learn the art of story-telling. Once we chose a story that "spoke to us," we recorded it, in parts, on notecards and began to "become one with the story!" Each story comes from a different Native American tribe, so we were sure to look up the tribe's original location as well.
Learning From an Expert:
A real story-teller from the Howard County Library made a special visit to share her art of story-telling with us. We then gave our own stories a try so she could listen and provide feedback. See the videos below to watch a portion of each of our stories. After practicing, we then shared our stories with the entire third grade!
